Effectively Removing Dog Urine

Air Purifier for Pets - Pet Odor Eliminator - Bassett Hound

AirRestore Units Will Help Get the Dog Urine Out of Carpet.

STEP 1: Try to identify the age and severity of the accident. Has it soaked into the carpet padding or even the sub-flooring? Is this an old or new stain? Clean the area as best you can by thoroughly soaking up the accident with an old towel or rag until you aren’t able to absorb any more. Also, the Dog Chat has a great start to getting the physical particles from the fibers of the material.

Dog Chat Recipe

  1. Get some white vinegar, 3% hydrogen peroxide, liquid hand soap, and baking soda.
  2. If the area is still wet you should first attempt to absorb the dog urine. Leaving it there to dry out will only encourage bacterial growth which causes the smell.
  3. Mix a solution of 50% white vinegar and 50% water. Use a spray bottle to apply the vinegar solution to the carpet. Work the solution into the carpet with a soft brush (or your fingers) to ensure it penetrates the carpet fibers below. Then blot the area using the paper towel method above to absorb the vinegar mixture. The vinegar will neutralize the ammonia in the dog urine. If you own a wet/dry vacuum extractor use it to remove excess moisture.
  4. When the area has dried or almost dried sprinkle a good handful of baking soda over the soiled area. Mix half a cup of 3% hydrogen peroxide with a teaspoon of dishwashing detergent.
  5. Pour the 3% hydrogen peroxide and dishwashing detergent mixture over the baking soda. Alternatively, you can use a spray bottle for the hydrogen peroxide/dishwashing detergent solution. Then, work the baking soda and hydrogen peroxide/detergent mixture well into the carpet with your fingers (put on some rubber gloves) or use a brush. Allow the area to dry completely. Once the area is thoroughly dry, vacuum up the baking soda. A fan or heater can assist drying. The baking soda absorbs the odor and urine. (Use a hard bristled brush to loosen up the baking soda if necessary.)

STEP 2: While the area is still damp, place your AirRestore on the urine stain for 60 minutes, preferably covered with a large bowl or bucket to focus the technology on the area. For accidents that have dried, mist the area with water prior to placing the AirRestore. Repeat 2-3 times as necessary, depending on age and saturation.
